Authentic farm-style vegetable dumplings
Rustic farm-style steamed dumplings wrapped in a soft half-cornmeal skin and packed with seasonal vegetable filling, delivering a gentle sweetness and hearty country flavor.
Instructions
- 1
Pour the boiling hot water into the cornmeal, quickly stir with chopsticks until it forms granules (when pinched by hand, it can break apart; when held in the hand, it can form a clump). Once it reaches a suitable temperature, add the yeast and mix evenly.
- 2
Pour in the flour, first mix the flour and cornmeal evenly, then add baking powder, pour in the milk and form a slightly soft dough, finally add corn oil and knead evenly, and put it in a warm place to ferment.
- 3
After the dough has risen, pinch off a piece and flatten it. Place the filling inside, hold the dough in the palm of one hand, and use the other hand to rotate and push the dough upwards to enclose the filling. Finally, shape it as desired.
- 4
Place the vegetable dumplings in the pot, let them sit for 15 minutes, bring to a boil over high heat, steam over medium heat for 25 minutes, then let them rest for 5 minutes. When the sweet corn aroma fills the house, it indicates that the vegetable dumplings are ready to eat.
