Beef Sausage and Egg Yolk Zongzi
A playful four-corner zongzi combining smoky beef sausage rounds and liquor-roasted salted egg yolk amid soy-glazed glutinous rice and peanuts for a rich, umami-packed bite.
Instructions
- 1
Sprinkle salted egg yolk with white liquor and roast for five minutes to remove the fishy smell.
- 2

Cut the beef sausage into sections.
- 3
Soak the glutinous rice in water for about four hours in advance.
- 4
Scoop out the rice and drain the water.
- 5
Add oyster sauce, braised soy sauce, and flaxseed oil, and mix well.
- 6

The bamboo leaf is rolled into a cone, with rice placed at the bottom.
- 7

Put salted egg yolk and grilled sausage in the middle.
- 8

Cover the top with rice. Add a few soaked peanuts.
- 9

Wrap into a square-shaped zongzi.
- 10
After wrapping everything, add cold water so that it covers the zongzi.
- 11
After boiling on high heat, reduce to low heat and cook for about 3 hours.
- 12
The cooked zongzi, with added beef, sausage, and salted egg yolk, is very delicious.
