Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon Lantern Festival
Festive glutinous rice balls shaped like the Olympic mascots, filled with fragrant black sesame paste, their hot-water dough rolled thin for a tender, chewy skin.
Instructions
- 1

Prepare the ingredients.
- 2

First, prepare the sesame filling. Put the sesame seeds and fine granulated sugar into a blender and grind them into a fine powder. It is normal for oil to be released. It's best to use a grinder for this.
- 3

Add the Nutralight mild butter melted in hot water and mix well.
- 4

Refrigerate for 1 hour, then shape into small sesame balls of 10 grams each and freeze for later use.
- 5

Mix glutinous rice flour and corn starch evenly. Gradually pour boiling water into the flour while stirring until it forms a flaky texture. While still hot, add Nutland butter and knead evenly, then divide into 2 dough portions. If your hands are slow, you can cook 1/5 of the dough first and then knead it together; this will improve the dough's elasticity and prevent it from drying out easily.
- 6

Prepare Bing Dwen Dwen dough: 60g of white dough, 10g of small black dough, 5g of small red dough, 5g of small orange dough, 5g of small yellow dough, 5g of small green dough.
- 7

Wrap the sesame filling with dough to make Bing Dwen Dwen's head, then create the face, nose, eyes, and ears, and use dough colored like vegetables to roll into strings and wrap around the face.
- 8

Prepare the Xuerongrong dough: large red dough, 5g yellow small dough, 5g black small dough, white small dough.
- 9

Take 20 grams of red dough to wrap the sesame filling to make the head of Snow Rongrong, press out the lantern texture, attach the lines, and then create the facial features.
- 10

After the Bing Dwen Dwen and Shuey Rhon Rhon tangyuan are cooked, boil them for another 3 minutes until they float, then they can be served!
- 11

The appearance is super cute. When you bite into the soft and fragrant glutinous rice skin, a strong milk aroma hits your nose, and the delicate sesame filling is fragrant and delicious. It’s really super tasty.
