Bing Dwen Dwen bun
Adorable panda-mascot steamed buns sculpted from plain dough tinted black with cocoa and brightened with pumpkin, purple sweet potato, and cactus fruit powders, soft and playful.
Instructions
- 1
Mix the main ingredients and knead into a smooth, appropriate dough, then pinch off 4 small portions, and add dark cocoa powder, pumpkin powder, purple sweet potato powder, and cactus fruit powder respectively to make colored dough. There should be more of the black dough. (It’s best to also make a piece of blue dough)
- 2
After letting the dough rest for 5 minutes, roll the white dough into thick slices.
- 3
Use a suitable oval-shaped tool to cut out 4 oval pieces. (I used a food storage container)
- 4
Place it in the steaming tray.
- 5
Roll out the red, yellow, and purple dough. I also added white dough.
- 6
Stacked together.
- 7
Cut into thin strips, roll them long, and shape them into a halo.
- 8
Brush the dough with some water and place the halo on top.
- 9
Use oval and round molds to cut out large-medium-small, black-white-black small pieces of dough.
- 10

Combine them into eyes, then roll a little bit of white dough to create the gaze.
- 11
Use the facial expression mold to cut out the nose and mouth.
- 12

Place it in the right position.
- 13
Use the white and black dough to make the ears, and the black dough to make the arms and legs, as shown in the picture.
- 14

Mix deep black cocoa powder with water, and use a fine brush to write 'BEIJING2022'. The raw piece is then ready.
- 15
Ferment until it doubles in size.
- 16
For the Midea steam oven, choose the pure steam mode and set it to 100 degrees for 18 minutes.
- 17

Finished product image.
