Black Whole Wheat Steamed Bun
Wholesome black whole wheat rolls rolled thin, brushed with oil, and dusted with salt and Sichuan pepper, then twirled and steamed into fluffy, savory swirls.
Instructions
- 1

Take a small bowl, put the flour in it, add a little sugar, stir the yeast with chopsticks until evenly mixed, then mix with warm water into a flaky texture and knead into a smooth dough to proof.
- 2

The baked dough is full of honeycomb-like holes.
- 3

Place the fermented dough on the workbench, knead to release air, then shape it into a round and flatten it.
- 4

Roll it into a thin sheet with a rolling pin.
- 5

Pour the oil on top and spread it evenly with a brush.
- 6

Sprinkle a little salt and Sichuan pepper powder.
- 7

Roll it up from the bottom.
- 8

Cut into small pieces with a knife.
- 9

Take the cut pieces and use chopsticks to press them in the middle from the reverse side.
- 10

Brush oil on the steamer rack, and place the prepared raw steamed buns on the rack to rise a second time until doubled in size.
- 11

The well-proofed flower roll dough is plump; steam it in cold water for 20 minutes.
- 12

Simmer for 5 minutes and then remove from the heat.
- 13

It tastes best when eaten hot.
