Chuanbei Pear and Pork Bone Soup

Chuanbei Pear and Pork Bone Soup

A traditional Cantonese medicinal soup: blanched pork bones simmer with peeled snow pear and soaked chuanbei fritillaria bulbs, yielding a gently sweet, moistening broth for soothing dry coughs.

Instructions

After the pork bones are cleaned, put them in a pot with cold water. Turn on the heat to blanch the pork bones; you only need to bring the water to a boil, then take out the blanched pork bones and rinse them clean with fresh water.

Clean the pear, then peel it, remove the core, and cut it into small pieces for later use. There are many kinds of pears; you can use crystal pears, snow pears, Gong pears, or duck-billed pears.

Clean the Fritillaria, soak it in water for 10 minutes, and then discard the water. Because Fritillaria is slightly bitter, it is better to use it after soaking.

Put an appropriate amount of water in a pot, add the pork bones, and include Chuan Bei. Bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat for 30 minutes. It's now time to drink the Chuan Bei soup. This soup uses snow pear, so people with diabetes should not drink too much.

After a few minutes, add the snow pear and goji berries and continue to simmer for 30 minutes. The goji berries and snow pear do not need to be cooked for a long time, which helps better preserve their nutrients from being lost too much.

The Chuanbei Pear and Pork Bone Soup that moistens the lungs and stops coughing is ready. This soup is also very easy to make, and it is especially good to drink in autumn. It not only relieves autumn dryness but also nourishes the skin. Everyone at home loves to drink this soup, especially children, because it is slightly sweet, and they can drink two large bowls each time.
