Cornmeal Oat Bran Steamed Cake First Release
A wholesome steamed sponge of wheat flour, cornmeal, and oat bran, proofed right in the steamer until airy, yielding a tender, subtly sweet cake packed with whole-grain goodness.
Instructions
- 1

Ingredients: flour, cornmeal, oat bran.
- 2

Pour the flour, cornmeal, and oat bran into a bowl, add the mixture of baking powder and water, and knead into a slightly soft dough.
- 3

Place the kneaded dough directly into the steamer basket and let it rise at room temperature for 1.5 hours. If the room temperature is high, the rising time will be shorter. The temperature in my home is below 20 degrees, so I used 1.5 hours.
- 4

You can put dates or raisins on the well-risen dough.
- 5

Add cold water to the pot and steam for 28 minutes.
- 6

Once it’s slightly cooler, you can cut it into pieces.
