Exclusive Boiled Chestnuts
Chestnuts are scrubbed clean, scored with crosses and boiled with sugar until tender, producing sweet, starchy, easily peeled kernels with a mellow caramel note.
Instructions
- 1

Yunnan oily chestnuts aren't very large, so add some salt and water and scrub them hard.
- 2

The water from washing is very dirty. After pouring it out, add water and rub to wash, repeating several times until the water is clear.
- 3

Place the chestnuts on the cutting board and cut a cross on them with a knife.
- 4

Open them upwards, place them into the pot, and add a large spoonful of sugar.
- 5

Add more water until it basically covers the chestnuts.
- 6

Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium heat and cook for about twenty minutes. This is when the water has just boiled and the chestnuts have already started to crack open.
- 7

After boiling for twenty minutes, when the water is almost gone, all of them are wide open.
- 8

Scoop it out and wait until it’s not too hot to touch, then you can peel it easily, one by one with ease.
- 9

Hurry up and get started~
