Fragrant Bean Baked Bun (Oven Version) Exclusive

Fragrant Bean Baked Bun (Oven Version) Exclusive

Oven-baked layered buns brushed with aromatic fenugreek and turmeric oil pastes, rolled into thin sheets, salted, and baked until the exterior is toasty while the layered interior stays soft.

Instructions

  1. 1
    Step image

After making the three-color large flower rolls, there was some dough left, just enough to bake fragrant bean buns. (The dough should be slightly soft when fermented)

  2. 2
    Step image

A suitable amount of tonka bean powder, add a little flour, mix with scallion oil to make tonka bean oil pastry.

  3. 3
    Step image

Turmeric powder, add a little flour, and mix with scallion-flavored oil to make a thin turmeric butter pastry.

  4. 4
    Step image

Take an appropriate amount of dough, knead it to remove air and shape it into a round ball. (I divided it into two batches.)

  5. 5
    Step image

Roll it into a thin sheet of dough.

  6. 6
    Step image

Sprinkle a thin layer of salt. (Those who prefer a sweet taste can sprinkle some sugar.)

  7. 7
    Step image

Spread a layer of fragrant bean oil pastry.

  8. 8
    Step image

Sprinkle a thin layer of flour on top.

  9. 9
    Step image

    Roll from the inside out.

  10. 10
    Step image

    The closing edge faces down.

  11. 11
    Step image

Cut into pieces of uniform size. Repeat the same steps with the other half of the dough.

  12. 12
    Step image

Pour a little scallion oil on the bottom of the inch-sized baking pan (with removable bottom).

  13. 13
    Step image

    Brush evenly.

  14. 14
    Step image

Place it into the mold (the flower in the middle is made from the two cut ends; the flower pattern doesn’t look very nice, but since there’s no more dough, it can only be placed like this 😅). The exact number of dough pieces depends on the size of the mold.

  15. 15
    Step image

First, brush a thin layer of turmeric butter pastry.

  16. 16
    Step image

Let it rise a second time in a warm place. It just fills the mold, looking very pretty like a flower.

  17. 17
    Step image

Brush on another thin layer of turmeric butter. When baking, it won't be too dry, with a crispy outside and soft inside.

  18. 18
    Step image

Preheat the oven, first set the top heat to 200°C and the bottom heat to 230°C and bake for 10 minutes, worried that the heat was too high and it might burn. Then adjust the top heat to 160°C and the bottom heat to 180°C, and bake for another 20 minutes. (Adjust according to your own oven situation)

The baked kun guo bread. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, absolutely beautiful 😍
