Homemade Butter Popcorn
Popcorn kernels popped in melted butter with sugar and honey, producing a buttery, lightly sweet and crunchy snack that is far richer than the microwave version.
Instructions
- 1
Prepare all the ingredients, preferably butter, because it has a stronger milky flavor. If you really don’t have butter, you can use cooking oil at home instead, but it’s best to use one with a milder taste. For example, peanut oil is too fragrant and not recommended.
- 2
Set the gas stove to low heat, first melt the butter, and don't rush to add the others.
- 3
After the butter is completely melted, add the corn kernels and sugar, as well as honey (if you don't have honey, skip it), and if you like the aroma of sesame, add some sesame seeds.
- 4
Turn the heat to high and start stirring continuously to heat the corn kernels evenly.
- 5
As the temperature gradually rises, small bubbles in the pot increase. At this time, the corn kernels are about to pop. Get the lid ready, and when three to five kernels pop, put the lid on the pot.
- 6
Turn to medium heat, shake the pan every 5 seconds, cover with the lid and shake it with a bit of force, so that the corn kernels pop as much as possible 💥. When the popping sound decreases and basically stops, you can turn off the heat.
- 7
Let it cool and it's ready to eat, very crispy!
