Homemade Five-Spice Marinated Eggs
Hard-boiled eggs simmered in a five-spice broth of soy sauce, star anise, and aromatics, soaking deep mahogany color and savory flavor into every bite.
Instructions
- 1

Wash the eggs, cook them until done, and then rinse them in cold water.
- 2

Peel off the eggshell.
- 3

Add the ingredients and an appropriate amount of water, bring to a boil, add the cooked eggs (make a cut in the eggs with a knife to allow them to absorb the flavor), and cook for 20 to 30 minutes until colored and the sauce is reduced.
- 4

The cooked five-spice marinated eggs are a beautiful wine-red color, with a moderate saltiness and a rich, aromatic flavor.
