Homemade (No Additives) Hawthorn Roll
Additive-free hawthorn fruit leather where tart berries are pureed, strained, sweetened with sugar and lemon, then slow-cooked into chewy, ruby-red snack rolls.
Instructions
- 1

Wash the hawthorn repeatedly and boil for 3 to 5 minutes.
- 2

Remove the stems from the cooled hawthorns, remove the bottom and hawthorn seeds, put them in a blender, add an appropriate amount of water with the hawthorns, and blend into a puree.
- 3

Pour the hawthorn puree that has been passed through a fine sieve into the pot, and add the juice of at least one lemon for better color.
- 4

Add an appropriate amount of sugar, without weighing it, about 50 to 60g or so, and keep stirring.
- 5

Stir-fry over low heat until it becomes relatively thick and sticky.
- 6

Spread it on the work surface with a scraper. It was my first time doing it, so the spreading wasn't very even, but it was acceptable (the light at night doesn't look as good as the actual color).
- 7

This is the state on the evening of the second day.
- 8

Use this scraper to scrape around the edges first, then gently lift it up. I thought it would be very difficult to lift, but it turned out to be quite easy. The color is very beautiful!

So accomplished! (Photo taken in the afternoon)
- 10

Cut the hawthorn rolls into appropriately sized pieces, then gently roll them up. A plate of zero-additive (no coloring) homemade hawthorn rolls looks very beautiful, with osmanthus as a garnish (all just taken with ordinary photography).

Very fresh color, made and eaten immediately, with a sweet and sour taste.
