Japanese-style Beef Rice
A Japanese-style donburi of thinly sliced marbled beef simmered glossy in sweet-savory sauce, served over rice with blanched broccoli and carrot for a hearty, restaurant-style bowl at home.
Instructions
- 1
First, prepare the side vegetables. Peel and slice the carrots, then blanch them together with the broccoli in boiling water until cooked. Drain, add salt, and mix well, setting aside for later use.

Beef can be chosen according to your own preference. I used brisket, which can be sliced to the desired thickness, and the quality of the beef is also guaranteed, making it safer to eat for family and children. You can also choose store-bought fatty beef slices, and the beef should ideally have a good balance of fat and lean meat.
- 3
A whole piece of frozen beef is placed on the slicer, the knob on the back adjusts the slicing thickness, and you can choose the thickness according to your needs. The power switch on the right starts the slicer. It operates quietly, the whole process is smooth and safe, and the sight of slice after slice of beef sliding down is quite soothing.

Beef can be sliced very thin and translucent.
- 5
But I still prefer to eat slightly thicker slices. In just one minute, I cut a large plate with the slicer: BestAid Bodhi home slicer.
- 6
Put the sliced fatty beef into boiling water and blanch until it changes color, then immediately remove it. The tenderness and smoothness of the beef mainly depend on the blanching time and the moment it is taken out.
- 7
Next, we need to cook a vegetable juice. It's very important: heat oil in a pot, add sliced garlic and fermented black beans to stir-fry until fragrant, then add shredded onion, green pepper, and chopped cilantro and stir-fry until fragrant. Add an appropriate amount of water, bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat and cook for ten minutes.
- 8
The remaining water in the cooked vegetable juice is about one-third of the original amount. Remove the vegetables and leave only the broth, then add light soy sauce, steamed fish soy sauce, dark soy sauce, rock sugar, white pepper, Huadiao wine, and a small amount of salt and bring to a boil. Add the beef to the pot and stir-fry evenly, then pour in an appropriate amount of starch water, allowing the broth to thicken slightly, then turn off the heat.

Finally, only the assembly work is left. Place broccoli and carrots on the rice, pour in an appropriate amount of fatty beef, then add a little sugar sauce. Mixing the rice is really amazing! It's so delicious!
