Octopus balls.
A homely takoyaki-style snack pairing soft steamed potato with chewy blanched octopus, cabbage and onion for little savory balls with tender, flavorful centers.
Instructions
- 1
Prepare the main ingredients.
- 2
Steam the potatoes until cooked. I used the microwave for about 8 minutes.
- 3
Cut the octopus into small cubes and set aside.
- 4
Bring a pot to a boil and cook the octopus tentacles. I used about three minutes.
- 5
Soak the cooked octopus in cold water. This can make it chewy and springy.
- 6
Chop the cabbage and wash it clean.
- 7
Chop the onion and wash it.
- 8
Place the cooked octopus, onion, and cabbage on a plate and set aside.
- 9
Steam the potatoes and mash them with a spatula.
- 10
Add butter starch.
- 11
Knead into a dough ball. It's best to steam it in a steamer, but I used a microwave and it turned out a bit dry, so I added a small amount of water.
- 12
Add onions, cabbage, and octopus into it.
- 13
Mix all the ingredients and knead into a block. The starch is very sticky.
- 14
Forgot to add the seasonings. Add salt, pepper, and salad dressing, and continue to knead evenly. You can wear disposable gloves.
- 15
The kneaded dough. Pinch it into small round balls.
- 16
Prepare another bowl. Add all-purpose flour and one egg.
- 17
Then add an appropriate amount of water and stir into a paste.
- 18
The meatballs can be easily coated with the batter once placed inside.
- 19
Heat the oil in the pan.
- 20
Once the oil is hot, gradually drop in the small balls.
- 21
Fried meatballs.
- 22
Wait until the meatballs change color, then take them out.
- 23
Squeeze on some salad dressing, add crushed seaweed and bonito flakes, and a simple decoration is enough.
