Siwu Decoction
A classic herbal tonic of four Chinese medicinal roots steeped and simmered with added red dates, a warming, earthy decoction traditionally taken to nourish the blood.
Instructions
- 1

A bag of herbal soup ingredients (purchase from a traditional Chinese medicine shop, tell them how many servings you need, separate each dose into a bag, this makes it convenient to store, one bag per use).
- 2

Open the package, and slightly rinse the four Chinese medicinal herbs.
- 3

Take a soup pot and add an appropriate amount of purified water, then put the Chinese medicinal herbs into the pot and soak for 20 minutes.
- 4

After soaking for 20 minutes, add red dates. If the prescription does not include red dates, I add eight red dates myself. Red dates also help to nourish the blood, and they make the soup taste sweeter.
- 5

Cover with the lid, bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low heat and simmer for half an hour.
- 6

After half an hour, turn off the heat and let it simmer for another 10 minutes before serving.
- 7

Finished product. Scoop out the red dates and the soup, discard the other soup residue.
