Snack-worthy chickpeas
Tender braised chickpeas simmered with soy sauce, aromatic spices, and rock sugar, a savory-sweet snack that is hearty and satisfying.
Instructions
- 1

Wash the chickpeas, soak them in clean water, and refrigerate overnight for later use.
- 2

Prepare star anise, cinnamon, bay leaves, and dried chili peppers.
- 3

Pour the soaked chickpeas into the inner pot of the rice cooker, add enough water just to cover the beans, and then add light soy sauce.
- 4

Add oyster sauce.
- 5

Add the prepared spices, then add a small piece of old rock sugar.
- 6

The rice cooker’s coarse grain setting cooks it thoroughly.
- 7

Remove the spices and pour them into a strainer to drain the broth.
- 8

Put it in the air fryer and bake at 180 degrees for 30 minutes, shaking it several times during the process to ensure even heating.
- 9

If you like the original flavor, you can eat it right after roasting. If you like other flavors, you can sprinkle salt, pepper, or chili powder according to your preference after roasting.
- 10

If you like it soft and slightly chewy, the baking time can be shorter; if you like a crispy texture, the baking time can be longer.
