Sophora Flower Rice
Delicate steamed locust flower blossoms dusted lightly in flour and cooked briefly, then crowned with sizzling scallion oil for a fragrant, floral, springtime dish.
Instructions
- 1
Wash locust flowers several times and clean them thoroughly.
- 2
Put the locust flowers into the steamer basket, gradually add the flour bit by bit, and stir evenly with chopsticks while adding the flour.
- 3
Coat each flower evenly with flour, but don't use too much flour and avoid forming clumps.
- 4
Bring the water in the steamer to a boil.
- 5
Place the steamer on the pot and steam for 8 minutes.
- 6
Cut some green onions during the steaming process.
- 7
After steaming, serve the locust flower rice into a large bowl.
- 8
Heat the oil in the pan until it boils, then add the green part of the scallions to release their fragrance.
- 9
Pour the scallion oil over the locust flower rice.
- 10
Add an appropriate amount of salt to the locust flower rice and mix well. Alternatively, you can make a vinegar dressing (salt, vinegar, MSG, chili oil), and the ingredients can also be mixed into the locust flower rice, adjusting according to personal taste. Those who prefer a light flavor can skip the vinegar dressing and eat the fragrant locust flower rice directly.
