[Sour Pickled Papaya] --- Appetizer Before Meal
Chunks of half-ripe papaya sit in a vinegar, sugar and salt solution, gently swirled until dissolved, yielding a crisp, appetite-awakening starter before any meal.
Instructions
- 1
One half-ripe papaya, peel it and cut it in half, remove the seeds inside and wash clean.
- 2
Cut the papaya into relatively large pieces.
- 3
Take a clean, dry, and oil-free bottle, and put the papaya inside.
- 4
Take a clean, dry, and oil-free bottle, put the papaya inside. Add white vinegar, sugar, and salt, along with an appropriate amount of cooled boiled water.
- 5
Shake the bottle with the goal of dissolving the added ingredients into the papaya and water.
- 6
Afterwards, screw the lid on tightly, making sure no air gets in. Place it in a cool place and do not move it.
- 7
It will probably take about half a month before it can be taken out to eat. If the papaya is successfully pickled, you can tell just by looking at the liquid inside. The liquid inside is clear and free of impurities. Use clean chopsticks to take out the pickled papaya, rinse it, and then cut it into thin slices to eat. If you are worried about the sourness, you can add some sugar to eat.
