Soy Sauce Flavored Beef
Beef shoulder marinates overnight, then simmers in a rich paste of soybean and sweet sauces until sliceable and glossy. Deeply savory with a faint sweetness, it is a make-ahead centerpiece for cold platters.
Instructions
- 1

Get the ingredients ready; this meat has already been marinated by me.
- 2

After buying the beef, soak it in cold water for an hour, then cut it into pieces. Add 8 tablespoons of light soy sauce, 4 tablespoons of dark soy sauce, slices of ginger, sections of green onion, and onion. Mix well by hand, cover with plastic wrap, and marinate in the refrigerator for more than 4 hours.
- 3

Add oil to the pot and slowly stir-fry over low heat until fragrant. Add yellow soybean paste and sweet flour paste (I didn't have sweet flour paste at home, so I used soybean paste), and slowly stir-fry over low heat until aromatic. Then add water, using a bit more water.

Put in the marinated beef and the marinade, bring to a boil over high heat and cook for 30 minutes, then reduce to low heat and simmer for an hour. After cooling, wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate, then slice.

Food you make yourself tastes the best. What I bought here is Guizhou beef, a bit expensive at 89.9 yuan per jin, so I made only a small amount.
