Taro and Lettuce Soup
A silky Jiangnan-style soup where steamed taro is half-mashed, half-cubed to thicken the broth naturally, finished with crisp lettuce, white pepper and sesame oil for gentle, creamy comfort.
Instructions
- 1

Peel the taro (dry peeling), wash it clean, and cut into small pieces or thick slices, then steam until tender (steam in boiling water), or boil in cold water until tender. Wash the lettuce, cut or tear it into small pieces and set aside.
- 2

1/4 taro mashed into a paste, 1/4 taro cut into small pieces.
- 3

Put the taro paste and chunks into the pot, add soup, water, or their original juice, bring to a boil over high heat, add seasonings (white pepper powder), salt, etc., then finally add the lettuce, turn off the heat, and sprinkle a few drops of sesame oil. Done!
