Xiaomi Rice Exclusive
Millet parboiled until just tender, then drained and steamed into separate, fluffy grains with a delicate nutty flavor, a lighter, drier alternative to millet porridge.
Instructions
- 1

The weather is getting hot, and I'm afraid the millet will get worms. Cooking porridge uses less, so today I'll steam some millet rice.
- 2

Rinse the millet.
- 3

Bring an appropriate amount of water to a boil in the pot.
- 4

Add the millet.
- 5

Keep stirring with a spatula to prevent sticking to the bottom.
- 6

Cook for about four minutes. Pinch it by hand; if the outside crumbles easily while the inside still has a hard core, it is roughly 60% cooked.
- 7

Use a slotted spoon to scoop out the millet and drain the water. Do not discard the millet cooking water; it is the essence of millet, commonly known as millet oil, which is nutritious and particularly tasty.
- 8

Place in the steamer and steam for 10 minutes.
- 9

After steaming the millet rice, open the lid to let the steam evaporate a bit, and fluff it with chopsticks to make it looser.
